Welcome to the Virginia Airborne Search & Rescue Squad, Inc. We are a non-profit 501 (c) (3) all volunteer Statewide Airborne Search & Rescue Squad licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Office of Emergency Medical Services offering free helicopter airborne support/searches to law enforcement agencies, rescue squads, fire departments and other SAR agencies in the Commonwealth of Virginia as available.
We operate a 24/7 dispatch center (866-246-9552) and have a team of trained pilots and flight officers, as well as ground and command crews available for dispatch to assist any agency with an airborne helicopter need. We also support and provide Airborne Search & Rescue services to Project Lifesaver Agencies on request thru Project Lifesaver Headquarters.
Our Airborne Search & Rescue Squad is a member of the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads (VAVRS) and the Airborne Law Enforcement Association (ALEA).
Our funding is provided 100% from the generosity of individuals, businesses, corporations, grants and our members to provide this free valuable service. Donations are tax deductible and we are a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt non-profit.
As a Volunteer Airborne Search & Rescue Group, our services are available to any agency requesting assistance. Our Headquarters Air-Wing is located in Manassas, Virginia with plans to have a 2nd and 3rd Air-Wing in Central and Southern Virginia in 2010-2012.
