AIRBORNE SEARCH & RESCUE AT NO CHARGE TO AGENCIES OR TAXPAYERS
The Virginia Airborne Search & Rescue (VASAR) mission is to assist in the recovery of lost or distressed citizens, assist in the location and apprehension of suspected criminals/ fugitives and locate lost Alzheimer patients or autistic children upon the request of any local, state or federal agency and citizens requiring “eyes in the sky.” VASAR will provide trained and certified flight crews to these agencies, at no cost to the taxpayer. VASAR will assist in any operation where a citizen may be in danger or a law enforcement need requires a helicopter for aerial support. Our highly trained and professional team of search & rescue pilots and flight officers volunteer their time flying to save lives.

Eyes in the sky have proven themselves throughout history as being invaluable in the command and control environment. VASAR can provide an aerial platform to give emergency management, ground based SAR and Police/Fire/EMS agencies an essential tool in disaster and emergency situations.

VASAR is proudly offers our services at no charge to requesting agencies and citizens. We are a 100% self-funded search & rescue helicopter unit.
All of our member go through stringent and rigorous training before being qualified in their positions and being deemed ready to perform their duties in a real world search. Many of our members are current or former military, law enforcement, fire, EMS, emergency management, aviation and health professionals.
